Again, not my own idea, this idea is stolen from Karen Whitehead. I've created a 'Three in a Row' game for Year 8s to practise describing where they live using 'new, old, beautiful, big and small.' Pupils have to roll some dice to get their coordinates, they then translate the sentence into French. If they are successful they place a counter on the square. The aim is to get three in a row. However, the pupils can knock each other's coordinates off by getting the same coordinates and translating the sentence. Usually, pupils say the sentence, however, I will ask pupils to write these sentences on a mini whiteboard.
