Hi everyone,

I hope you are busy creating some fantastic revision resources to help you with your forthcoming exams!

The site below is really good for revision. It's got lots of revision notes that people have already created, and, if you create an account (it's free!) you can create your own flashcards, mindmaps, revision notes, quizzes, crosswords, revision timetables and loads more things!

If you think you create something that could be useful for other students, leave a comment below with the link to the resource you have created.

Year 10 Art Exam Students

For those students who were in the art exam today, please make sure you catch up with the work.

Your groups looked at tax (VAT, income tax, national insurance contributions and corporation tax) today. We then went on to look at the recruitment process and each member of your group created the recruitment cycle for one of the workers in your business.

Look through the notes in the revision guide that I produced for you and come and ask me if you are unsure about anything.

You WILL be expected to complete the work you have missed.

I just want to say a BIG thank you to all of the year 11's involved in today's trip to the Thorntons factory.

You were very well behaved and asked some very good questions!

Have a nice half term and don't forget to complete your Thorntons booklets for the first Monday back (25th!)

If you didn't go on the visit, you will need to do your own independent research or ask somebody!

An interesting video for year 11 students to watch following on from today's lesson.

Make a note of the things that are mentioned in the video and see if you can relate them back to the notes we made in today's lesson.

How did your roleplays compare?

On Thursday, year 11 will be visiting the Thorntons factory.

IF you have have not already returned your permission slip, hygiene slip and money, please do so as soon as possible! You can drop it off in the work room (opposite IT5) before school, at break and lunch times or after school.

The itinery for the day is shown below:

8:50am - meet in the dining hall. If you have any cuts, please inform one of the teachers so that we can make sure you get a blue plaster when you enter the factory.

9:00am - leave school on the mini bus. We will do this is two separate trips.

9:30am - factory tours. We will look around the Thorntons factory and you will be able to see everything that goes on. You may be given the opportunity to speak to some of the employees and try out some of the things they have to do. Please remember to be sensible and polite when doing this! Remember that you are representing the school!

11:30am - talk from the employees of Thorntons. They will tell you all about Thorntons, and you may be given the opportunity to ask questions. Remember that you need to fill in your booklets over half term, so if you have any questions related to your booklet, now might be a good time to ask them!

12:00 noon - leave the Thorntons factory. Again, we will be taking two trips in the school mini bus. The engineers need to be on the first trip so that they are back in time to catch their taxi to engineering.

PLEASE REMEMBER:
- No jewellery (including body piercings)
- No perfume, aftershave or body spray
- Long hair must be tied back with a bobble
- Fringes need to be secured with a hair band (not an Alice band)
- No grips, clips or slides
- No nail varnish or nail extensions
- No glass
- No peanuts or peanut oil

Remember that we are representing the school, so you need to be in full school uniform and make sure you follow the rules.

Have fun!

Homework: to complete your Thorntons trip booklet for Monday 25th February 2013.
